Unfortunately the crays were a little too cunning and the pot came up empty. All was not lost though as an abalone was acquired and fried in garlic and butter. I have never had fresh abalone before and like most things, fresh is best. It was delicious and I look forward to obtaining more. Also, unusally for the west coast the weather for quite nice, so all in all a productive and educational exercise.

The bread of life
Tasty bread making has been a somewhat elusive goal for me with several attempts at both yeast culture and sourdough starters. They turn out somewhat edible, but never great. Inspired by a recent post, including a short youtube video showing just how easy it is, I had another go:
All in all, it turned out pretty good. The food critic, who was most certainly not a fan of my last creations called it 'alright, borderline good!'. High praise indeed. On reflection, I'm not really sure what was done differently, but some questions do not have answers.
